Album Design & Artistic Direction

The Brief
To celebrate 25 years of recordings, Nicolas King was releasing an album showcasing his career from his childhood to the present day. Nicolas approached me at the beginning of the project with some Ideas but overall a very open brief - keen to include some of his personal photographs in the design of the booklet.
The Process
I worked closely with Nicolas to make sure I was communicating with the artwork the same message he was producing in the music. That message was a rhetoric of past works, without it being a final 'Greatest Hits' album produced at the end of a career. It needed to be clear that Nic wasn't done yet! Below are some images showcasing the developmental process of the design.

The Result
The Finished Album was something both Nicolas and his label, Club 44 Records, were really excited to distribute. Through constant communication throughout the process, and many meetings to understand the goals and message of the album, I felt confident that I had produced something that communicated Nicolas to his listeners.
